Description of key information

Experimental result: 12.4 kPa at 20°C (interpolated), 139 kPa at 80°C (extrapolated)
The substance TFA is considered as a volatile organic compound (V.O.C.) according to Directive 1999/13/EC criteria.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
12.4 kPa
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

An experimental study was conducted, that can be related to the EC guideline, on the dehydrated substance (purity not specified). Vapour pressure measurements were recorded between 12 and 72°C. Values at 20 and 25°C were interpolated by calculation from the linear regression of log P = f(T). The value at 80°C was also extrapolated for purpose of operator exposure.

Supporting litterature data from one database and one handbook are consistent with the calculated results derived from the above experimentation: at 25°C 14.7 kPa, at 37°C 25.5 kPa.

The retained key value is the experimentally derived result at the reference temperature of 20°C.
