Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance 2,5-bis(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)benzene-1,4-diol is not readily biodegradable. The substance is characterised by a low water solubility (WS: 0.027 mg/L at 20 °C, pH) and a high adsorption potential (log Koc: 5.85, MCI method, 25 °C). Based on the substance characteristics a removal from wastewater in the primary settling tank of STPs and by adsorption to activated sludge is expected. Substance released to natural water bodies is expeced to adsorb to the organic fraction of the sediment. Benthic organisms are potentially exposed via feed and contact with suspended organic particles. An acute toxicity of the substance to sediment organisms is not expected based on the availabe data on aquatic toxicity. Furthermore, the experimentally measured BCF of 271 indicates that the bioaccumulation potential of the substance is low. Based on all the available information, adverse effects in the sediment compartment are not likely to occur.
