Description of key information

The substance 2,5-bis(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)benzene-1,4-diol is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. The substance is poorly soluble in water (WS: 0.027 mg/L at 20 °C, pH 7) and has a high potential to adsorb to soil and suspended matter as indicated by the Log Koc estimations (log Koc > 4.0, KOCWIN v2.00). The experimentally determined BCF of the substance (BCF: 271) indicates a low bioaccumulation potential. Based on the physico-chemical properties a distribution to sediment and soil is considered most likely if the substance is released to the environment.
