Link to relevant study record(s)
- Endpoint:
- water solubility
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- April 23 to April 29, 2010
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
- Deviations:
- yes
- Remarks:
- The used amount of test item was not about five times the quantity of material to saturate water. It was not possible to prepare a saturated solution, since the test item is miscible with water.
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Type of method:
- flask method
- Water solubility:
- 1 460 g/L
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- pH:
- 11.3
- Details on results:
- Ethyldimethylaminewas found completely miscible with water.
- Conclusions:
- Ethyldimethylamine was found completely miscible with water.
- Executive summary:
The concentration of Ethyldimethylamine was measured using an LCMS method. The linearity of the analytical method was proven in the concentration range from 0.075 to 0.5 mg test item/L. The regression coefficient (r²) was determined to be 0.9995.
The analysed samples were above the calibration range, thus the results were obtained by extrapolation. Corresponding to the analysis the water solubility of the test item was estimated to be 1460 g/L at 20 °C ± 1 °C. Differences of 24 % were found between the samples of 24, 48 and 72 hours incubation time. However since Ethyldimethylamine was found miscible with water, no further analysis was performed. It was not possible to prepare a saturated solution of Ethyldimethylamine in water. Ethyldimethylaminewas found completely miscible with water.

Description of key information
Water solubility of Ethyldimethylamine was assessed in the frame of an OECD 105 test following GLPs. However since Ethyldimethylamine was found miscible with water in all proportions, no further analysis was performed. It was not possible to prepare a saturated solution of Ethyldimethylamine in water. Ethyldimethylamine was found completely miscible with water.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 1 460 g/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
