Additional information

No information concerning effects on sediment-organisms is available for glutaraldehyde. Nevertheless, since the substance is not bioaccumulative (log Pow = -0.18), a considerable exposure of sediment organisms is not expected. Furthermore, glutaraldehyde shows just a low to moderate potential of adsorption to solid particles. However, glutaraldehyde showed a rapid degradation in soils by microbial biotransformation. Therefore, a persistence of glutaraldehyde in sediment is unlikely. Hence, information about effects on sediment organisms is not required and the equilibrium partitioning method has been used for assessing the hazard to sediment organisms.
