Description of key information

Accumulation in organisms is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Due to the low log Pow (-0.18) a potential for bioaccumulation of glutaraldehyde is unlikely. The low potential of glutaraldehyde for bioaccumulation was confirmed by calculation method of the EpiWin program. In fact, the BCF value was calculated on the basis of the calculated log Pow value of -0.18 (SRC KowWin v1.67), and a log BCF value of 0.5 (BCFBAF v3.00) was obtained. The calculated BCF value indicates that glutaraldehyde does not significantly accumulate in organisms. In conclusion, glutaraldehyde will not tend to bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms.
