Description of key information

Dicyclopentadiene is not considered to be readily biodegradable. Dicyclopentadiene is also expected to have low potential for bioaccumulation based on the reported BCF of 53 in Bluegill. Furthermore this substance is also expected to have low potential for bioaccumulation and adsorption to soil and sediment based on its log Kow of 2.78. The log Koc values of 3.18 (MCI method) and 2.74 (kow method) would also not indicate a potential for adsorption to soil. Structural analysis of the Dicyclopentadiene molecule indicates that it is not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment due to the lack of hydrolysable functional groups. The calculated overall OH rate constant for dicyclopentadiene is 119E-12 cm3 molecule-1s-1, which represents a half-life in the atmosphere of 1.077 hours. DCPD is probably P based on the lack of biodegradation observed in the current data, but it is considered not vP on the basis of the supporting QSAR data.
