T1 : time from application of the flame to a noticeable effect from the orifice. T2 : time from application of the flame to the end of the combustion without recorded event (e.g. explosion) as in these tests or to an explosion. Diacidea AGS have been determined not to have thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test.
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Diacides AGS have been determined not to have shock-, friction- and thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test.
Executive summary:

The determination of explosion properties of Diacides AGS was performed in accordance with the EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties). Diacides AGS have been determined not to have shock-, friction- and thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test.

The composition of Diacides AGS is as follows: 51.6% glutaric acid, 23.5% adipic acid, 16.6% succinic acid.

Description of key information

In accordance with the EU method A.14 (Explosive properties) the test shows that Diacide AGS does not have a shock sensitivity-, friction sensitivity and thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test.
The composition of Diacides AGS is as follows: 51.6% glutaric acid, 23.5% adipic acid, 16.6% succinic acid (Rhodia, 2008).

non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The determination of explosion properties of the multi constituent substance “dicarboxylic acids” was performed using thermal sensitivity test apparatus, shock test apparatus, and friction test apparatus in accordance with EEC Directive 92/69 Appendix V part A14. The substance has been determined not to have shock sensitivity, not to have friction sensitivity and not to have thermal sensitivity to explosion under test conditions. In conclusion, the carboxylic acids don’t present a danger of explosion (Rhodia, 2008b).
