Description of key information

The study was conducted in compliance with GLP and equivalent to OECD Guideline 211 (Daphnia magna Reproduction Test), however only two test concentrations were tested.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The NOEC is 0.5 mg/L, as no effects were observed at the two test concentrations 0.5 and 0.05 mg/L. The concentrations tested in this study were set very low, despite the observed low acute toxicity (EC50>1000 mg/L) of dipropylene glycol methyl ether.

The NOEC is defined as the test concentration immediately below the LOEC which, when compared to the control, has no statistically significant effect (p<0.05) within a given exposure time. Because a LOEC could not be identified, it can be designated as >0.5 mg/L making the NOEC >= 0.5 mg/L.
