- Recombinant spider silk protein is composed exclusively of naturally occurring oligopeptides.
Degradation products of spider silk proteins like peptides and amino acids are irreplaceable nutritional components for terrestrial organism. Terrestrial toxicity testing of recombinant eADF4(C48-CS25C) protein from E. Coli (K12 HMS174(DE3)-plasmid pAMS029) fermentation and subsequent purification is therefore considered as not scientifically necessary (see attached justification).
