Additional information

Ammonium sulphate did not cause irreversible histological or functional damage in the rat nerve, when Lewis rats of different ages (4 day old, 3 weeks old, and adult rats; 18 animals per age) were treated by an intrafascicular injection of ammonium sulphate (10%) into the posterior tibial nerve fascicle proximal to the trifurcation (Hertl, 1994).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on read-across, the available data on neurotoxicity are conclusive but not sufficient for classification according to the criteria of Directives 67/548/EEC (DSD) and Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP).
