Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to column 2 of EC 1907/2006 Annex IX long-term toxicity testing shall be proposed if the chemical safety assessment indicates the need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms. Based on the results of the short-term tests, for the single components of the reaction mass ammonium sulphate, potassium sulfate and sodium sulphate respectively are of very low toxicity. For all three substances EC50values substantially higher than the EU and GHS threshold for classification as potentially dangerous for the environment (100 mg/L) were determined. Therefore long-term studies on the toxicity of the substance to aquatic invertebrates are considered as not necessary.
