There is no evidence for the photodegradation of ammonium sulphate, potassium sulfate or sodium sulphate. However, ammonium sulphate may be formed in atmospheric aerosols (occurrence predominantly in the fraction < 2.5µm) from reaction between ammonia and sulphuric acid (from SO2 emissions). SO2 concentrations control the ammonium sulphate formation (Scott and Cattell, 1979; Gmur, Evans and Cunningham, 1983). In aqueous solution, ammonium sulphate, potassium sulfate and sodium sulphate are all completely dissociated into their constituent ion and the sulphate anion and hydrolysis does not occur.
