Additional information

The partition coefficient of EC 903-161-3 was estimated according to OECD 107 (i.e. estimation from its individual solubilities in n-octanol and water). Due to the fact, that the individual solubilities could not be quantified in definite values (water solubility < 0.5 mg/L, octanol solubility > 1000 mg/L), the test material was estimated to have a log Pow value > 6.3.

Considering the difficult structure of the substance and the surface active properties the estimation method is the most appropriate method for testing the octanol / water partition coefficient. Due to the nature of the substance - organic and inorganic parts in the molecules - the analytics is very complex. Therefore QSAR calculations were performed to support the experimental results. For these calculations only the organic part of the constituents has been considered in the non-ionic form. Even the smallest molecule part of one constituent reveals a calculated log Pow >10. Therefore the log Pow for the complete UVCB substance was concluded to be >10.
