Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The surface tension of EC-903-161-3 was not determined as a dilute aqueous solution because the stated solubility of the test item in water was 0.01 mg/L. Therefore, the surface tension was determined for the neat test item only.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The study was conducted in accordance with the OECD Guidelines for the testing of chemicals, OECD 115 and Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Annex Part A.5. The protocol states that solutions should be prepared neat and at the recommended maximum application rate diluted with water. OECD Guideline 115 and EC Test A.5 assert that substances with water solubility lower than 1 mg/L need not be tested. Therefore, the surface tension was determined for the neat test item only, since the stated solubility of the test item in water was 0.01 mg/L. The mean surface tension of the test item at 25 °C was found to be 17.39 mN/m. This is however not a relevant value, as the purpose of the surface tension study is to evaluate changes is surface tension of an aqueous solution. Therefore no key value is entered in this endpoint summary and the study is waived based on the low water solubility (1 mg/L) of the registration substance.
