- Category definition:
- All category members consist of five carbon atoms and one hydroxy group positioned at the primary carbon atom. Besides the five carbon atoms plus the hydroxyl group being linearly arranged, an allowed structural difference in this group is that molecules can also occur as a butanol containing a methyl side chain.
- Category rationale:
- They are liquids at room temperature and exhibit similar physiochemical properties. Toxicological and ecotoxicological studies conducted on all substances also led to similar results,
