Additional information

The results of the ready biodegradability study showed that methyldiacetoxyisopropoxy silane (CAS No. 329039-38-5) is only moderately biodegradable (59% biodegradation after 28 days). Considering the rapid hydrolysis of the substance in water, this biodegradation value rather accounts for the biodegradation of the transformation products. Two of the main degradation products, isopropanol and acetic acid are known to be readily biodegradable (OECD SIDS, 1997; HSDB, 2011) and therefore not persistent in the environment. Therefore, methylsilanetriol (hydrolysis product) is expected to show low to moderate potential for biodegradation.

No further data regarding biodegradation in water, sediment or soil systems are available. However, these are not part of the mandatory information requirements set in Annexes VII and VIII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006.
