Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Perchloric acid is miscible in water according to different peer reviewed data.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1 712 g/L
at the temperature of:
15 °C

Additional information

The same result "miscible" is mentioned in different Handbooks.

In water, perchloric acid is neutralised into perchlorate salts. Therefore, a read-across approach has been performed with the sodium salt to select a key value for water solubility. The read-across justification is discussed in the endpoint study summary "Aquatic toxicity".

Sodium perchlorate, as perchloric acid, is reported to be miscible in water. A value of 2090g/L at 15°C is reported in the CRC Handbook and is selected as the key value. This value is corrected to be expressed in perchloric acid = 2090 * 0.82 = 1712 g/L
