Diphenyl tolyl phosphate showed complete primary degradation in less than 7 days in a river die-away study. In the semi-continuous activated sludge (SCAS) test, rapid primary degradation was also seen (Saeger, 1979). 75% degradation of the test material was seen over the 28-day study period in a modified MITI test, based on oxygen demand (Kanne, 1987). The substance is therefore considered to be readliy biodegradable.


In a comparison of linear and non-linear BCF models to estimate accuracy, predictive power and domain of application, Devillers et al (1996) reference earlier work by Bengtsson et al (1986), which quotes log BCF values of 2.00 and 2.34 forAlburnus alburnus.

In a fish study, Bengtsson et al (1986) also show a low bioaccumulation potential was seen in this study from food (minnow -Phoxinusphoxinus); BCF values from water ranged from 100 -220 (bleak -A. alburnus). Saeger (1979) calculates a theoretical BCF of 360 based on the octanol water partition coefficient of cresyldiphenyl phosphate.
