Conclusion on classification

According to Annex VI of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, there is no environmental classification for ethylene oxide. The acute toxicity to daphnids and algae are > 100 mg/L, for fish the LC50(96h) was determined to be 84 mg/L. Ethylene oxide has a low log Kow of -0.3 and is hence not expected to bioaccumulate. The substance is readily biodegradable. Thus, environmental classification of ethylene oxide for acute or chronic aquatic hazards is not indicated.
