Conclusion on classification

Measured aquatic ecotoxicity data are not available for 2-methyl-1-heptanol and all data are read-across from a stuctural analogue, the linear isomer octan-1-ol, in the context of the Category data set (described in the CSR). Octan-1-ol is readily biodegradable and long-term predictions for invertebrates indicates that the NOEC is equal to 1 mg/l.

Therefore, the substance is classified as Chronic Category 3 for the environment in the EU according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
