Conclusion on classification

CAS Numbers 92045-23-3 and 95465-89-7 are both listed in Annex VI to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 but are not classified for environmental hazards. Additionally, following representative constituents are listed in Annex VI to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, but are not classified for environmental hazards: butane, isobutane, butene, isobutene. Pentane is listed in Annex VI to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 as Aquatic Chronic 2.

The acute toxicity of representative constituents of these streams were predicted to range from 12.405 to 148.62 mg/L. According to table 4.1.0(a) of Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, none of the streams in this category warrants classification for acute aquatic toxicity.

The chronic toxicity of representative constituents of these streams were predicted to range from 1.563 to 13.605 mg/L and as these streams are considered to be rapidly biodegradable, according to table 4.1.0(b)(iii) of Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, none of the streams in this category should require classification for chronic aquatic toxicity. However, streams with pentane concentration greater than 2.5 % (v/v) would warrant, as minimum, classification as Aquatic Chronic 3 (H412).
