Description of key information

Melting point/softeninig point of FMMVF fibres varies within the range of ca. 680 °C to ca. 720 °C depending on the fibre type.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
700 °C

Additional information

Melting point ( softening point) of MMVF fibres varies within the range of ca. 650 °C to ca. 1200 °C depending on the fibre type. Internal assessment based on measured data received from the manufacturers' over an 18 month period was used for QC analysis, comparable to a guideline study. Typically B and C Glass would be completely molten glass at temperatures around 800°C and will have lost all fibre form. B and C Glass microfibres have a softening point of around 680 °C, whereas A Glass microfibres have asoftening point of 720°C.
