Description of key information

Carcinogenicity studies with disodium hexafluorosilicate are not available. IARC Monographs supplement 7 (1987) evaluated the carcinogenicity of fluorides, concluding that disodium hexafluorosilicate did not induce sex-linked recessive lethal mutation in Drosophila. Mutagenicity studies on disodium hexafluorosilicate were negative. In addition, fluorides are neither classified for carcinogenicity.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification is proposed. Studies performed by IARC show that the substance does not induce carcinogenic effects in animals.
