Description of key information

Bis-MPA is readily biodegradable according to an OECD 301 test.

Additional information

In a ready biodegradability study the test substance Bis-MPA was found to be readily biodegradable in a DOC die-away test according to OECD guideline 301A. A classification of readily biodegradable means that Bis-MPA will be rapidly and effectively removed from the environmental compartments by biological degradation. As such removal from the STP is expected to be highly efficient and half lives in soil and sediment will be short. Thus, the likelihood of long-term residence in the environment is considered to be negligible for Bis-MPA. In accordance with REACH Annex IX column 2, simulation testing in water and/or sediment and in soil do not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.
