Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

2 -(octylthio) ethanol was negative in two guinea pig sensitisation tests, and it was also not a skin sensitizer when tested in a human repeat insult patch test at a concentration of 6% in isopropanol (National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (1998).

Migrated from Short description of key information:

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

No animal or human data have been found with regard to respiratory sensitisation.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
No data have been found concerning respiratory sensitisation and there are no indications that 2 -(octylthio)ethanol is a respiratory allergen.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Dermal Sensitisation

Classification proposal regarding dermal sensitisation: DSD: None. GHS/CLP: None.

Respiratory Sensitisation

Although there are no specific data on respiratory sensitisation, there is no evidence that classification is warranted under DSD or GHS/CLP.
