Tiffany sand (North Dakota, 0.25% OC): Freundlich Kads value 1.5, and Kdes value of 1.2; Koc adsorption is 600 , Kocdes desorption is 479, and the 1/n (slope of regression isotherm) value was 1.02 for adsorption, and 0.91 for desorption.
Anthony sandy loam (Arizona, 0.35% OC): Freundlich Kads value 3.4, and Kdes value of 3.3, Koc adsorption is 538 , Kocdes desorption is 292, and the 1/n (slope of regression isotherm) value was 1.07 for adsorption, and 0.74 for desorption.
Dundee clay loam (Mississippi 0.65% OC): Freundlich Kads value 3.5, and Kdes value of 1.9, Koc adsorption is 971, Kocdes desorption is 932, and the 1/n (slope of regression isotherm) value was 1.02 for adsorption, and 1.18 for desorption.

Parent hydroxyethyl octyl sulfide is moderately mobile in Tiffany sand (North Dakota, 0.25% OC), Anthony sandy loam (Arizona, 0.35% OC), and Dundee clay loam (Mississippi, 0.65% OC) soils with Freundlich Kads values of 1.5, 3.4, and 3.5, and Kdesvalues of 1.2, 3.3, and 1.9. However, hydroxyethyl octyl sulfide was bound much more tightly in a Gardena silt loam soil (North Dakota, 2.1% OC) with Freundlich Kads and Kdes values of 14.7 and 13.7, respectively. This indicates that soil organic carbon may bind significant amounts of the hydroxyethyl octyl sulfide that reaches soil. Koc values were 600, 538, 971, and 700 for adsorption, and Kocdes values were 479, 292, 932, and 654. The 1/n (slope of regression isotherm) values were 1.02, 1.07, 1.02, and 0.89 for adsorption, and 0.91, 0.74, 1.18, and 1.12 for desorption.

Conclusions:
Hydroxyethyl octyl sulfide was bound much more tightly in a Gardena silt loam soil (North Dakota, 2.1% OC) indicating that soil organic carbon may bind significant amounts of the hydroxyethyl octyl sulfide that reaches soil. Parent hydroxyethyl octyl sulfide is moderately mobile in
Tiffany sand, Anthony sandy loam, and Dundee clay loam soils.
