Description of key information

Weight of Evidence used from two reliability 2 studies. Log Kow for isoamylene estimated to be in the range 2.67 to 2.72. The result does not indicate that isoamylene would meet the criteria (log Kow ≥4.5) for bioaccumulative (B) in the PBT assessment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Weight of Evidence used from two reliability 2 studies to estimate Log Kow. The first study, Abrahams et. al. (1994) is an experimental determination for 2-methylbut-2-ene (513-35-9) which can be used as read-across for isoamylene. This study was used in the OECD SIDS (2005) for513-35-9 and given reliability 2. The second, Meylan et. al. (1995) study is a QSAR calculation for 2-methylbutene (isoamylene,26760-64-5) using KOWWIN Program (v1.67) in EPE Suite v. 4.0. Log Kow for isoamylene is estimated to be in the range 2.67 to 2.72. The result does not indicate that isoamylene would meet the criteria (log Kow ≥4.5) for bioaccumulative (B) in theassessment.
