Description of key information

The density of 2-methylbut-2-ene at 20˚C is 0.6623 This value can be used as read-across for isoamylene (2-methylbutene, CAS 26760-64-5).

Additional information

No information on the primary source of this data or the methods used is available. However, this information is taken from a reliable peer reviewed handbook, Lide (2008) and so can be considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. Most up to date source at the time. Earlier version of the source used by OECD SIDS (2005) for this endpoint. The density of 2-methylbut-2-ene at 20˚C is 0.6623 Since isoamylene (2-methylbutene, CAS 26760-64-5) is a mixture of the two isomers, 2-methylbut-2-ene (CAS 513-35-9) and 2-methylbut-1-ene (CAS 563-46-2) and in the absence of any reliable data for isoamylene then 2-methylbut-2-ene is considered a suitable substance for read-across.
