Description of key information

The vapour pressure of 2-methylbut-1-ene is 813 hPa at 25⁰C . This value can be used as read-across for isoamylene (2-methylbutene, CAS 26760-64-5).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No information on the primary source of this data or the methods used is available. However, this information is taken from a reliable peer reviewed handbook, Zwolinski et. al. (1971) and so can be considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. The vapour pressure of 2-methylbut-1-ene is 813 hPa at 25⁰C. Since isoamylene (2-methylbutene, CAS 26760-64-5) is a mixture of the two isomers, 2-methylbut-2-ene (CAS 513-35-9) and 2-methylbut-1-ene (CAS 563-46-2) and in the absence of any reliable data for isoamylene then 2-methylbut-1-ene is considered a suitable substance for read-across. The value chosen is the higher of the two isomers.
