This endpoint in conjunction with the boiling point of 31.2⁰C (2-methylbut-1-ene) will result in a classification of Category 1, hazard statement, extremely flammable liquid and vapour or in conjunction with the boiling point of 38.6⁰C (2-methylbut-2-ene) will result in a classification of Category 2, highly flammable liquid and vapour.

However, this information is taken from a reliable peer reviewed handbook, Lide (2008) and so can be considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. Most up to date source at the time. The flash point of 2-methylbut-1-ene is -20°C. This endpoint will result in a classification of either Category 1, hazard statement, extremely flammable liquid and vapour (flash point <23°C and boiling point of ≤35°C) or Category 2, hazard statement, highly flammable liquid and vapour (flash point <23°C and boiling point >35°C) depending on the boiling point of the substance. Since isoamylene (2-methylbutene,26760-64-5) is a mixture of the two isomers, 2-methylbut-2-ene (513-35-9) and 2-methylbut-1-ene (563-46-2) and in the absence of any reliable data for isoamylene then 2-methylbut-1-ene is considered a suitable substance for read-across.
