Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Dry powder

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:

Full water jet, Water, water mist, Alcohol-resistant foam., Carbon dioxide

Special exposure hazards arriving from substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases:

Fire may produce: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and oxides of nitrogen

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Additional information:

Cool containers at risk with water spray jet. Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface waters. Sufficient measures must be taken to retain water used for extinguishing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Avoid dust formation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Environmental precautions:

Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater. Do not discharge into the subsoil/soil.

Methods for cleaning up/taking up:

Pick up mechanically, avoiding dust, and provide disposal in suitable recipients. Clean contaminated surface thoroughly. Flush away residues with water.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:

Avoid the formation and deposition of dust. Care for suitable extraction / ventilation at processing machines. Keep container tightly closed. Protect from moisture. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface waters. Sufficient measures must be taken to retain water used for extinguishing.

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels:

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, well-ventilated place.

Breathing apparatus (particle filter) only if dust is formed. Half mask with a particle filter P2 (European Norm EN 143 = former DIN 3181).

Hand protection:

Protective gloves resistant to chemicals made off nitrile, Minimum coat thickness 0.4 mm, Permeation resistance (wear duration) approx. 480 minutes, i.e. protective glove <Camatril 735> made by www.kcl.de. This recommendation refers exclusively to the chemical compatibility and the lab test conforming to EN 374 carried out under lab conditions. Requirements can vary as a function of the use. Therefore it is necessary to adhere additionally to the recommendations given by the manufacturer of protective gloves. Safety gloves are not mandatory, but recommended.
