Additional information

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 115 and Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.5 to determine the surface tension of the test item 4-Hydroxy-TEMPO using the ring method. Therefore, a test solution with a concentration of 1.0 g/L was prepared. After filling the solution into the vessel of the tensiometer and tempering it to the test temperature of 20 °C ±0.5°C, the measuring procedure was started and repeated until the value of surface tension remained nearly constant. The surface tension of the test solution was calculated from the arithmetic mean of the last five measured values. Each measuring value is considering the correction according to Harkins-Jordan. The measured surface tension multiplied with the calibration factor of the tensiometer is finally rounded to one decimal place. The surface tension of 4-Hydroxy TEMPO in double distilled water (1.0 g/L), at 20 ± 0.5°C was determined to be 65.3 mN/m. Thus, the test item is classified as non-surface-active.
