Description of key information

Silver metal is devoid of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive or self-reactive properties, such as metal peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides). Silver metal is not flammable, not auto-flammable, not flammable in contact with water and silver does not show pyrophoric properties. Silver is thermally stable (melting point ca. 960°C, boiling point ca. 2200°C).  Further, it is noted that despite long-term industrial use of the substance, it is not classified for explosive properties according to UN transport regulations. Therefore, silver is not considered to be explosive (and experimental verification appears scientifically not justified).
