Description of key information
Tests on all trophic levels (fish, daphnia, algae, microorganisms) were performed to examine the aquatic toxicity of the described test item. No adverse effects were observed in aquatic toxicity tests with fish (96h), algae (72h) and activated sludge (3h) up to the highest tested concentration (100 mg/L nominal). Only aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) showed effects below 100 mg/L (EC0 24h 31 mg/L). This acute effects on daphnids were considered unemployable for a classification since the effects occurred far above the water solubility (< 0.1 mg/L) of the test item. Furthermore, a long-term reproduction study with Daphnia magna was conducted, in which no effects were observed. Due to the low water solubility of the test item the long-term study was conducted with a water accommodated fraction (WAF). Based on the loading rate the NOEL (21d) on reproduction of Daphnia magna was >= 2 mg/L. Thus, the compound is considered with high probability acutely and chronically not harmful to aquatic organisms at saturation concentration.
Furthermore, with an average maximum diameter of 25.5 Å (see IUCLID Chapter 5.3.1) , a molecular weight of 1178 g/mol and a log Kow of > 19.6 (according to ClogP3 and EPIwin calculations) the substance is considered to be not bioavailable and uptake of the substance in cells via membrane permeation of organisms is unlikely. Therefore, no further tests on sediment dwelling organisms and on long-term toxicity to fish are not provided.
