Description of key information

A valid activated Sludge Respiration Inhibition Test (OECD 209) according to GLP is abvailable. The EC10was found to be 540 mg/l and the EC50 wasdetermined to be > 1000 mg/l.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
540 mg/L

Additional information

One study investigating the toxicity of Propanamide, 2-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyl- to aquatic microorganisms is available. The study was conducted under static conditions and according to GLP and OECD guideline 209 using domestic, non-adapted activated sludge as inoculum (BASF, 2012). Nominal test substance concentrations between 62.5 and 1000 mg/L were applied. The following effect concentrations for respiration inhibition were observed compared to the control after a test period of 3 h : EC10 (3h) is determined to be 540 mg/L, the EC50: > 1000 mg/l.
