Two acute algae studies according to guideline OECD 201 are availble.In the first study the test item was tested for toxicity to freshwater algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) in 72 h-growth inhibition test. The EC50 was found to be greater than 800 mg/L, the EC10 was found to be 302 mg/l. The second study was performed as a limit test with a test concentration of 100 mg/l. The test item was tested for toxicity to freshwater algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) in 72 h-growth inhibition test. The EC 10 and EC50 were found to be >100 mg/L.
Two studies investigating the toxicity of Propanamide,
2-hydroxy-N,N-dimethy to algae are available.
Both studies were performed according to GLP and OECD guideline
201 using Desmodesmus subspicatus as test organism.
In the first study (Noak, 2009) nominal concentrations between 0.5
and 800 mg/L were tested over a period of 72 h. The 72h-EC50 is
determined to be 800 mg/L and the 72h-EC10 is determined to be 302 mg/L
based on nominal test concentrations.
In the second study (Clariant, 2008) performed as a limit test
with a nominal concentration of 100 mg/l , for growth rate an EC50 and
an EC10 of > 100 mg/l were determined.
Since the second study was performed as a limit test with 100 mg/L
and for reasons of precausioary principle this values was used as key
value for the safety assessment.
