Description of key information

The short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates study is not needed as charcoal, coconut shell is highly insoluble in water.

Additional information

Short-term toxicity testing on invertebrates is not required in accordance with REACh Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex VII, 9.1.1., as charcoal, coconut shell is highly insoluble in water (see IUCLID section 4.8) and unlikely to cross biological membranes due to particle size (see IUCLID section 4.15) and a log POW of <1.4 (see IUCLID section 4.7).
