Description of key information

The substance has a melting range from 35°C to 40°C at 1013 hPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The melting point of 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole was reported to be 35 - 40°C at 1013 hPa in BASF study SIK 85/0156, REAXYS reports the melting point to be 35 °C to 45 °C and the Yaws' Handbook of Physical Properties for Hydrocarbons and Chemicals reports the melting point to be 45 °C at ambient pressure. A melting range from 35 °C to 40 °C reported in the BASF study was regarded to be reliable for 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole.
