One experimental study investigating the toxicity of triacetin
(CAS 102-76-1) to freshwater algae is available (Toray Research Center,
1998). The study was conducted according to OECD 201 under GLP
conditions using the freshwater algae Selenastrum capricornutum. Five
concentrations up to a maximum of 1000 mg/L (nominal) were tested in a
static exposure regime. The test substance concentrations were
determined analytically by GC/FID. A NOEC (72 h) of 468 mg/L and an EC50
(72 h) of > 940 mg/L based on the measured (geom. mean) concentrations
based on the growth rate resulted.
