Description of key information

After 24 hours of exposure to the test item an EC50 of > 580 mg/L was observed for Daphnia magna.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

An acute toxicity study with Daphnia magna was performed (BASF 1989) according to DIN 38412 L 11 (similar to OECD guideline 202). Test animals were exposed to nominal concentrations of 58, 100, 180, 320 and 580 mg test item/L. The mobility of the daphnids were checked after 3, 6, 24 and 48 hours. In the two highest concentration of 580 mg/L and 320 mg/L immobility of 40 % and 30 % was determined after 48 hours. In the lower concentrations no immobility occurred, with the exception at 58 mg/L with 5 % immobility. Based on the conditions of this test, an EC50 > 580 mg/L was observed for Daphnia magna exposed to the test item for 48 hours.
