CAS number: 92045-23-3
A complex combination of hydrocarbons produced by the distillation of the products of a steam cracking process. It consists predominantly of hydrocarbons having a carbon number of C4, predominantly 1-butene and 2-butene, containing also butane and isobutene and boiling in the range of approximately minus 12°C to 5°C (10.4°F to 41°F).
The flash point of category C4, high 1,3-butadiene (≥ 0.1%).members ranges from <-30°C to -18°C.
data on the flash point of the streams were available from BASF for the
category members, 64742-83-2: -18°C , 92045-23-3: < -30°C, 87741-01-3:
< -30°C (BASF 2008). The data from these streams can be read across to
the other members of the category. The flash points of the streams were
reported to range from <-30°C
mean of the flash point values for the category is -26°C
at 101325 Pa and this has been used to complete the 'key value for
chemical safety assessment'.
