Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative density
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Guideline study (EU method A.3).
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.3 (Relative Density)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The test was conducted at 25 °C instead of 20 °C as indicated in the guideline EU A.3. However, as the substance is a solid this deviation is considered to be negligible.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:

Results table:

 Measurement No.  Density [g/cm³]
 1  10.7160
 10.7148
 3  10.7186
 4 10.7161
 5  10.7150
 mean 10.7161
Conclusions:
The density of the test substance tungsten dioxide (WO2) is 10716 kg/m³.
Executive summary:

The density of tungsten dioxide (WO2) at 25 °C was determined according to EU method A.3 (pycnometer method). The relative denisty of WO2 was determined from the mean of five individual measurements. The density of the test substance WO2 is 10716 kg/m³.

The density of tungsten (IV) oxide at room temperature is 10.8 g/cm³.
Executive summary:

According the CRC Handbook for Chemistry and Physics the density of tungsten (IV) oxide at room temperature is 10.8 g/cm³.

Description of key information

The density of tungsten dioxide is 10.7161 g/cm³.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:

Additional information

According the CRC Handbook for Chemistry and Physics (92nd edition) the density of tungsten (IV) oxide at room temperature is 10.8 g/cm³.

The density of tungsten dioxide (WO2) at 25 °C was determined according to EU method A.3 (pycnometer method). The relative density of WO2 was determined from the mean of five individual measurements. The density of the test substance WO2 is 10716 kg/m³. The result of this study was chosen as the key study in the chemical safety assessment due to the higher reliability (Klimisch 1) of the test result compared to the handbook data (Klimisch 2).
