Description of key information

The density of tungsten dioxide is 10.7161 g/cm³.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:

Additional information

According the CRC Handbook for Chemistry and Physics (92nd edition) the density of tungsten (IV) oxide at room temperature is 10.8 g/cm³.

The density of tungsten dioxide (WO2) at 25 °C was determined according to EU method A.3 (pycnometer method). The relative denisity of WO2 was determined from the mean of five individual measurements. The density of the test substance WO2 is 10716 kg/m³. The result of this study was chosen as the key study in the chemical safety assessment due to the higher reliability (Klimisch 1) of the test result compared to the handbook data (Klimisch 2).
