Additional information

The test item tris(oxiranylmethyl) benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate contains no nitrogen, therefore the evaluation of biodegradation has to be based on the ThODNH4.

The mean biodegradation after 28 days of tris(oxiranyl-methyl) benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate was 59% (ThODNH4); the 10 day window criterion was not passed.

Whilst tris(oxiranylmethyl) benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate cannot be considered to be readily biodegradable under the strict terms and conditions of OECD Guideline No. 301F, the evidence of aerobic degradation (59%) that did not plateau before the end of the 28-day indicate the potential for complete mineralisation in the environment.

In accordance with column 2 of REACh (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) Annex X, further biotic degradation testing (required in section 9.2.1) does not need to be conducted based on the findings of the Chemical Safety Assessment; the substance does not fulfil classification criteria according to the applicable regulations and does not fulfil the criteria for vPvB or PBT.
