Description of key information

The available study, Yu and Atallah (1978), studied photolysis of 2,4,6-tribromophenol using radiolabelled test compound on a TLC plate under UV light. The results were considered reliable and adequate for assessing the stability of 2,4,6-tribromophenol in air.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
4.6 h

Additional information

Reference Yu, C.C. and Atallah, Y.H. (1978)

Reliability: 2

Result: DT50: 4.6 hours. 64.53% was found to have degraded by 6 hours. A degradation product of 2,4,6 -tribromophenol was tentatively identified as 2,6-dibromo-3,5-dihydroxy-p-quinonimine.
