Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From November 19, 2019 to December 11, 2019
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Part I: Classification procedures, test methods and criteria relating to explosives of Class 1
Test series:
UN Test series 1
Method:
UN Test 1 (b): Koenen test
Parameter:
limiting diameter (mm)
Value:
1
Result:
negative, no explosion

1. Test of Impact Sensitivity

(1) At 10 J of impact energy-level, the results of six independent trials were identical: no exposive voices or sparks were observed, and no change of the sample colour and no odor occurred.

(2) At 20 J of impact energy-level, the results of six independent trials were identical: no exposive voices or sparks were observed, and no change of the sample colour and no odor occurred.

2. Test of Friction Sensitivity

At 360 N of load, the results of six independent trials were identical: no explosive voice, crackling, sparking or flame was observed, and no change of the sample colour and no odor occurred.

3. Koenen Test

(1) Use 20.0 mm orifice plate, “no explosion”.

(2) Use 1.5 mm orifice plate, “no explosion”.

(3) 1.0 mm orifice plate was for 3 parallel tests, all of which were “no explosion”.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
According to UN, Recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods-Manual of Tests and Criteria Part I, Everzol SR98 was not explosive. Therefore, Everzol SR98 was not met GHS criteria.
Executive summary:

This test using the procedures outlined in the ZCQI Study Plan for 2019106990 and UN, Recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods-Manual of Tests and Criteria Part I. In Test of Impact Sensitivity, no explosion and no decomposition occurred when the sample was impacted at 20 J of impact energies. In Test of Friction Sensitivity, no explosion occurred when the sample was tested at 360 N of load. In Koenen Test, the limiting diameter is less than 1.0 mm. All analytical conclusion could be confirmed “-“.Therefore, Everzol SR98 was not explosive.

Description of key information

Everzol SR98 was not explosive (UN, Recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods-Manual of Tests and Criteria Part I).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information
