Description of key information

Absorption by oral and dermal route, some concern regarding possible bioaccumulation potential even though low absorption is expected, mostly excretion by bile.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Absorption

“Reaction mass of dodecane-1-thiol and tridodecyl trithiophosphite” has a low or moderate oral and dermal absorption considering it is slightly water solubility (96.3 mg/l at pH=8.2 and at T=20 °C) and its very high predicted log Pow(log Pow> 10). Respiratory absorption is unlikely.

Distribution

The low water solubility and the high log Kow may raise some concern regarding potential bioaccumulation of the substance. However, the very low absorption potential minimizes the alert.

Metabolism

According to the QSAR prediction for the two main components, “Reaction mass of dodecane-1-thiol and tridodecyl trithiophosphite” is stable to hydrolysis under different pH conditions. Expected metabolites are mainly produced by oxidative processes(e.g.oxydrilation, oxidation to carboxylic acid or to sulfonic acid) with the formation of more soluble compounds.

Excretion

Considering its low solubility of and its predicted molecular weight higher than 300 a.m.u., bile excretion is expected to be the main excretion pathway for this substance.
