Description of key information

The rate constant for the reaction of tetrahydrothiophene with OH radicals is 8.9 +/- 0.7 to 19.8 +/- 3.4 E-12 cm3 molecule-1 s-1. Using the equation: Ln2/ (5 E+5 * rate constant * 60 * 60 * 24), this leads to an atmospheric half-life of between 0.81 and 1.8 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
1.8 d

Additional information

Atkinson (1989) is a review paper, which includes and extends previous review articles by the author and provides some general information about the experimental methods and conditions. The study is considered reliable and suitable for use for this endpoint. The value is supported by Atkinson (1984).
