Description of key information
The 3 hour EC50 for tetrahydrothiophene is 1530 mg/l. This is supported by a ready biodegradability test, which shows that tetrahydrothiophene is not inhibitory to micro-organisms at concentrations up to 310 mg/l.

Gancet (2010) is a GLP-compliant, activated sludge respiration inhibition test following OECD guidelines 209. The study is considered reliable and suitable for use for this endpoint.
This is supported by Thiebaud (1998), a GLP-compliant biodegradation study following OECD guideline 301. The study has been used for the toxicity to micro-organisms endpoint as the biodegradation of the reference substance showed that the micro-organisms were not inhibited by Tetrahydrothiophene.
