Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Version / remarks:
In the Version dated 27-Jul-95
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
see "Principles of method if other than guideline"
Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Ultra-pure water saturated with n-octanol was used for the stock solution instead of n-octanol saturated with water, because of an easier handling with higher volume accuracy. This had no effect on the
study.
- The shaking time was 23.5 hours instead of 24 hours. This had no effect on the study.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
mass spectrometry
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
0.59
Temp.:
20.3
Remarks on result:
other: no information on pH available
Conclusions:
The GLP study was performed according to OECD TG 107 with acceptable deviations not affecting the study, the results were so obtained via a scientifically reasonable method. Hence, there is no doubt that the obtained results are not reliable: The partition coefficient was determined to be 0.59.
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient of 3-Methyl-thiazolidin-thion-2 was determined in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 107 using the flask method. According to the definition of the OECD-Guideline 107 the test item shows a log Pow of 0.59 with a standard deviation of 0.03.

Description of key information

Partition coefficient: 0.59 [exp. result, OECD 107, flask method, GLP]

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
0.59
at the temperature of:
20.3 °C

Additional information

The partition coefficient of 3-Methyl-thiazolidin-thion-2 was determined in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 107 using the flask method ( with acceptable deviations not affecting the study, the results were so obtained via a scientifically reasonable method). According to the definition of the OECD-Guideline 107 the test item shows a log Pow of 0.59 with a standard deviation of 0.03, not triggering any risks (log Pow < 3; e.g. regarding PBT Assessment).
